Libya and Italy have signed a joint cooperation memorandum to train Libyan pilots in Rome, as part of broader efforts to combat irregular migration.
Italian Defence Minister Luca Goretti announced the agreement during a ceremony marking the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Italian Armed Forces.
According to Italy’s Nova news agency, the deal—the first of its kind between the two nations' air forces—will see Libyan pilots undergo training and education in Italy.
Minister Goretti emphasized that the initiative serves not only Libya’s interests but also contributes to Italy’s efforts in managing migration challenges.
The agreement aims to enhance the operational capabilities of the Libyan Air Force, strengthen national security, and deepen strategic cooperation between the two countries.
