Italy Floods

The Libyan Government of National Unity offered condolences to the Italian government on Sunday evening for the victims who died as a result of the floods that swept the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy.

Libyan Foreign Ministry expressed in a statement solidarity with the friendly Republic of Italy, following the floods that killed a number of people, caused the evacuation of thousands from their homes, and damaged infrastructure.

Nearly 24 streams and rivers flooded in the southeastern parts of the Emilia-Romagna region following heavy rain hours earlier in the week, causing entire neighborhoods and farmland to flood, killing and displacing many people.

More than 10,000 people have been evacuated from their homes, and hundreds of landslides have been reported, according to the region's officials.
