Libya has called on the parties in Sudan to end the fighting and opt for the language of dialogue and understanding, during a phone call between Foreign Minister Najla Al-Manqoush and her Sudanese counterpart on Tuesday.

A statement by Libya's Foreign Ministry said the top diplomats "discussed the current and unfortunate conditions in brotherly Sudan."

Al-Manqoush stressed the need to respond to calls for an immediate end to the battles and to maintain the language of dialogue between the brothers.

She expressed Libya's full solidarity with the Sudanese people and her government's readiness to play a mediating role between the Sudanese parties.

For his part, Sudan's FM Ali Al-Sadiq Ali thanked Al-Manqoush for the Libyan initiative aimed at healing the rift between the conflicting parties in Sudan.

He expressed his gratitude for Libya's position in supporting efforts to bring peace to Sudan and to fulfill the aspiration of its people to achieve security and stability.
