Youth Minister Fathallah Al-Zani attended a meeting grouping his counterparts of the Community of the Sahel-Saharan States (CEN SAD) in the Nigerien capital, Niamey, on Friday.

The regional caucus selected Libya as Vice-President of the ministerial council.

In his statement before the group, minister Al-Zani highlighted the efforts of the Government of National Unity (GNU) to promote youth development in Libya.

He said that youth issues are high on the GNU's agenda, and his government translated this by establishing the first independent youth ministry in the country.

Al-Zani briefed the bloc on the youth-related initiatives the GNU produced, such as the marriage and housing fund, besides the first Libyan Youth Parliament and the establishment of local youth councils.
