The head of the General Authority for Communications and Informatics, Abdelbaset Al-Baour joined the 28th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information.
Under the auspices of the Arab League, the high-profile meeting addressed the region's pressing digital transformation challenges and opportunities.
Al-Baour underscored the urgency of Arab integration to keep pace with the global digital revolution, highlighting the need for robust digital infrastructure, data governance, privacy protection, and capacity-building.
He further reiterated that human capital would be key to shaping the Arab world's digital future.
A major milestone of the meeting was the launch of the Arab Artificial Intelligence Strategy, designed to promote innovation and advance sustainable development across the region.
Delegates also adopted recommendations to bolster cybersecurity, reduce the digital divide, and nurture technology-driven entrepreneurship.
The session concluded with two landmark announcements: Amman was named the Arab Digital Capital for 2025, and commitments were made to support Palestine in upgrading its telecommunications infrastructure, including 4G and 5G services.
