Foreign Minister Najla Al-Manqoush has affirmed Libya's support for the Italian initiative to develop agriculture and energy supplies, thus contributing to a solution to the food crisis in the Mediterranean region.

Al-Manqoush was addressing an audience at the Mediterranean Dialogue Conference held in Rome on Friday, which focused on the food crisis in the world.

The conference kicked off under the chairmanship of the Italian Deputy Prime Minister/ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, in the presence of ministers of state and officials of the World Food Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), and the World Bank (WB).

In her speech before the conference, Al-Manqoush touched upon the situation in her country as she reiterated that her government's view comes in line with the international and European position in support of ending the transitional stages and going to elections in Libya.

The FM affirmed her government's readiness to secure the elections and harness all the necessary capabilities to accomplish them.

Al-Manqoush also addressed in her statement the economic repercussions of the war in Ukraine and its impact on fragile countries, which requires international solidarity, as she put it.
