Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah has issued instructions to send aid to Syria to help in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that struck northern Syria and Turkey on Monday.

In a telegram statement, the PM offered his deep condolence to the Syrian people and his government's support for them in these difficult times.

Syria's health minister said that 1,262 people have died in government-controlled areas.

The White Helmets, a group orchestrating volunteer search and rescue operations in liberated areas of Syria, have recorded 1,400 deaths.

The government Hakomitna platform has confirmed that vital items such as medicines, children's clothes, tents, blankets, and mattresses will be sent to the affected areas of Syria.

A humanitarian aid worker in Idlib, Syria, told the press that "they have been forgotten" as he appealed for international support.

Libya has already provided a 55-search and rescue team to Turkey, which arrived at Adana Airport on Tuesday.
