Libya takes part in Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum
Libya participated in the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum in its 17th session of the meeting of senior officials and the 6th session of the strategic political dialogue, which was organized by the Arab League, via video conference, on Tuesday.
The Libyan delegation included the Director of the Arab Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Khalifa Al-Qaidi, as well as representatives from the departments of the Asian Affairs, Australian affairs, and International Cooperation.
In his speech, Al-Qaidi stressed the keenness of the Government of National Unity to restore security and stability in the country and end all foreign interference, besides holding the elections in December. 24, 2021.
He also praised the historical relations between the Libyan and Chinses people and highlighted the "effective cooperation" between the two countries in several issues, including combating illegal immigration and confronting the COVID_19 epidemic.
The Libyan-Chinese Joint Committee created in 1983, besides the Libyan-Chinese Friendship Association, are the fruits of the historical relations between the two countries.
During the forum, Al-Qaidi gave an insight on the latest developments in Libya, and the goals set by his government, the most important of which is achieving development, peace, and security in the country.
In light of the latest developments in Palestine, Al-Qaidi stressed Libya’s firm position towards the Palestinian cause and the right of its people to defend themselves and their land.
The meeting discussed several issues of common interest, including plans to revive the economies of countries affected by the pandemic consequences and efforts for a peaceful settlement to the crises in the Arab region, especially in Libya, Syria, and Yemen.
In this context, the participants emphasized that relations between states should be based on respect for their sovereignty and non-interference in their interior affairs.
The forum was co-chaired by Wang Di Secretary-General of the Chinese side of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum, Director General of the West Asia and North Africa Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ibrahim Al-Sahlawi, Permanent Representative of Qatar to the Arab League and head of the Arab delegation.
