The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity expressed its appreciation for Morocco’s support for Libya’s candidacy for membership in the African Peace and Security Council, representing the North African region for the 2025–2028 term.

In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry explained that this support provides Libya with an opportunity to contribute effectively to efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in the African continent, noting that Libya has not held a seat on the council for ten years.

It emphasized the strength of relations between the two countries, expressing gratitude for the important role Morocco plays in supporting legitimacy in Libya, both at the regional and international levels. The ministry also acknowledged Morocco’s support for the Libyan people’s efforts to achieve security, stability, and development.

The ministry hailed Morocco’s role in sponsoring the Libyan-Libyan dialogue, which led to the signing of the Skhirat Agreement on December 17, 2015. It reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, in a manner that serves the shared interests of both nations.
