Libya and Tunisia have held high-level discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation on labour policies and tackling irregular migration.

Libya’s Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation, Ali Al-Abed, met with his Tunisian counterpart, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training Ryadh Chaoued, in Tripoli on Monday, during an official visit intended to strengthen bilateral ties between the neighbouring countries.

According to a statement by the Libyan Ministry of Labour, the two ministers discussed key issues including the regulation of workforce mobility, the expansion of vocational and technical training programmes, and collaborative efforts to address irregular migration — a growing concern for both nations.

Minister Al-Abed welcomed the Tunisian delegation, underlining the "deep historical relations" between Libya and Tunisia, and reaffirmed Libya’s commitment to developing a strategic partnership.

On his part, Chaoued expressed Tunisia’s willingness to broaden cooperation and exchange expertise, particularly in employment and training sectors.

The Ministry also announced that a joint Libyan-Tunisian technical committee is set to convene its first meeting soon to address priority issues and lay the groundwork for formal agreements. These discussions are expected to pave the way for long-term institutional collaboration and development between the two states.
