The Minister of Local Governing, Badr Al-Deen Al-Toumi, discussed with the British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, enhancing cooperation in various fields related to the work of the local administration system and facing the challenges of climate change.
According to the Ministry of Local Governing, the two sides discussed the electoral process and the importance of conducting it on solid legal foundations that guarantee the integrity of its results and ensure the implementation of its outcomes, to achieve democracy, enhance stability and consolidate decentralization.
The meeting also discussed ways of joint cooperation regarding climate change and its negative impacts on the lives of citizens, and working together to achieve sustainable cities that are resilient to the risks resulting from climate change.
The two sides agreed on the need to hold joint meetings between their specialized teams to discuss the participating technical files, which the two parties will work to develop in order to achieve common goals.
Longden expressed his appreciation for the path of transition toward decentralization and empowering municipalities with their powers, stressing that this path is considered one of the most important paths for building the state and its stability.
