Libyan airlines will restart their services to Cairo Airport after being grounded for years by the Egyptian side for "security reasons.

The announcement of resuming the Libya-Cairo route came during Libya's Minister of Transport Muhammad Al-Shoubi's participation in the 11th session of the Libyan-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee that concluded on Thursday.

Al-Shoubi agreed with the Egyptian Minister of Aviation, Muhammad Manar, to start operating Libyan flights to Cairo Airport and conduct mutual visits involving experts from both countries according to the government's "HAKOMITNA" platform.

They also agreed to open exchange points for receiving air traffic and cooperate in the safety training and air navigation field.

It may be worth noting that Libyan flights heading for Egypt usually land at Borg El Arab Airport in Alexandria instead of Cairo Airport due to what the Egyptian authorities describe as "security reasons".
