The Libyan ambassador to the United Nations, Taher El Sonni, has responded to France's ambassador to the UN after her speech at the Security Council meeting on Libya by saying that Paris had been named in UN reports as a violator of the arms embargo in Libya, especially by providing Haftar with Javelin missiles.

El Sonni told the French ambassador: "Did France get permission from the Security Council to give Haftar Javelin missiles?"

In his speech at the Security Council on Thursday, El Sonni criticized the UAE, saying it had breached Security Council resolutions 11 times in Libya by supporting Khalifa Haftar's forces with armoured vehicles, air defence system and drones.

"The ongoing aggression on Tripoli is another chapter of the chaos that some foreign countries aim to create in Libya." The Libyan UN ambassador explained.

He added that Libya hasn't heard any condemnation from the Security Council of the crimes committed by Haftar's forces in Tripoli despite being documented by the Secretary-General.

Regarding Egypt's intervention in Libya, El Sonni said that Libya understands Egypt's readiness and keenness to secure its borders with the country, but that doesn't justify for Egypt's intervention in Libya's internal affairs and for its support for "a coup party,' referring to Haftar.
