The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, and his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, have discussed arrangements for the meetings of the Libyan-Iraqi Joint Committee and the activation of bilateral agreements signed between the two sides.
This came during a phone call on Saturday evening, which addressed "ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Libya and Iraq in various fields, reflecting the depth of historical relations between the two countries, while emphasizing the importance of expanding the horizons of cooperation and partnership in the future," according to a statement published on the ministry's Facebook page.
In another context, the two ministers addressed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, reaffirming their firm and supportive stance to the Palestinian cause and the need to intensify Arab and international efforts to halt the military escalation, ensure the protection of civilians, and work to deliver humanitarian aid urgently and safely.
They also discussed supporting all initiatives aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The upcoming Arab summit in Iraq next May was also discussed, and the need for coordination and consultation was emphasized to ensure the summit's success and strengthen joint Arab action.
