The Italian Authorities have released Abdulsamei Friwan, a member of the Libyan Coast Guard, who has been under arrest in Italy for 10 days.

The Chief of the Coast Guard central sector and Ports Security, Colonel Rida Issa told the Libyan News Agency (LANA) that the release came because of the interference of the Libyan embassy in Rome and after delivering a complaint to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Attorney General's Office in the Salvation Government.

Abdulsamei Friwan is a member of the Libyan Coast Guard, who was arrested when the Libyan Coast Guard captured the Italian trawler (Heron) fishing illegally in the Libyan waters. Italian trawler Heron, when being led to the Coast Guard headquarters in Misirata, was freed by an Italian battleship with the use of force and then escaped with Friwan on deck, taking him later into custody in Italy.
