Members of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) attended the opening session of the sixth legislative period of the Pan-African Parliament on Monday in Midrand, South Africa.
The delegation included Saleh Qalama, Asmaa Al-Khuja, Youssef Al-Fakhri, and others, who participated in discussions addressing key issues affecting the continent.
The session, led by Pan-African Parliament President Fortune Charumbira, focused on the pressing challenge of climate change. It explored Africa’s strategic goals ahead of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The discussions also highlighted the need to balance Africa’s energy security demands while tackling the ongoing climate crisis. Additionally, health preparedness for future pandemics and disease outbreak response mechanisms were key topics on the agenda.
