The Libyan Embassy in Turkey has called on members of the Libyan community in Istanbul to contact it to check on them in light of the earthquake that struck Istanbul on Wednesday.
The embassy said in a statement: "We call on members of the community to follow all instructions and preventive measures taken by the relevant Turkish authorities in this event."
It indicated that an emergency room was formed, in coordination with the Consulate General in Istanbul, immediately after the earthquake.
The emergency room aims to monitor the situation of all members of the community, provide information, and provide updates on their circumstances, in direct communication and coordination with the relevant Turkish authorities.
Istanbul was struck by three earthquakes Wednesday morning, damaging several homes. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) warned citizens against entering buildings damaged by the earthquake or remaining in their vicinity, and urged them to use text messages or social media rather than phone calls to communicate with others. The initial earthquake measured 6.2 on the Richter scale, followed by two aftershocks measuring 4.4 and 4.9, according to official data.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority reported that its teams had begun a field survey to monitor the effects of the earthquake.
