Libyan Fatwa House member abducted in Tripoli
An armed group abducted member of the Council of Researches and Islamic Sharia Studies of Libyan Fatwa House Nadir Al-Omrani in Tripoli on Thursday.
Two cars intercepted Sheikh Nadir at dawn while on his way to Fwateer mosque in Al-Hadbah Al-Khadra district to perform morning prayer.
No group claimed responsibly for the abduction.
His family said his whereabouts are still unknown. The Libyan Fatwa House condemned the abduction and held authorities in Tripoli responsible for his safety.
Spokesperson of the Council of Researches and Islamic Sharia Studies Abdullah Al-Jaadi indicated that two groups can benefit from the abduction of Sheikh Nadir, the first is ISIS and the second is Dignity Operation and its affiliates in Tripoli.
Sheikh Nadir also acts as the Chairman of Libyan Scholars’ Association.
