Four members of the House of Representatives (HoR) expressed their rejection of the initiative of the UN envoy, describing the move as “tampering with the Libyan affairs” and irresponsible in ending the political deadlock.

The members said in a statement on Monday that Koury's briefing at the Security Council contained nothing but repeated phrases that do not meet the minimum requirements of the Libyan people, considering its continuation in the same approach as fueling the crisis and prolonging the suffering of Libyans.

The members’ statement held the UN mission and the international community behind it fully responsible for the continued suffering of the people and the resulting deterioration of the political and security situation.

The statement added that what it described as the repeated “failure” to perform its duties – referring to the mission – raises question marks about the extent of its commitment to Libyans overcoming their crisis, while at the same time rejecting any attempt to impose detailed solutions outside the will of the Libyans or bypassing their legitimate representatives.

It called for an end to negative international interference and respect for the state's sovereignty as well as its right to self-determination away from external dictates, calling for setting a specific timetable to accomplish the national entitlement, including elections, in accordance with the will of Libyans.
