Libya's House of Representatives (HoR) postponed approving the 2021 budget bill and said the move was requested by the Government of National Unity, according to the HoR media office.

The media office said Monday that the GNU wanted to make amendments to the budget bill, while the HoR spokesman, Abdullah Bliheq, said the session on Tuesday will tackle the issue of electing of the president directly from the people.

The HoR session discussed Article 12 of the Chapter 6 of the presidential elections candidacy as the HoR Speaker, Aqila Saleh, said people with criminal records aren't allowed to run for president - in a hint at Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi.

Benghazi-based member, Jalal Al-Shuwaihdi, said the military officers must have resigned two years before running for president as per the international standards for such matters - which all range from two to five years.

Another HoR member said the duration of the resignation of the military officer can be only two months before running for president.
