Libya’s Mufti, Sheikh Sadiq Al-Ghariani, called on those advocating for protests to take to the streets not only to overthrow the government but also to eliminate the current transitional bodies.

Speaking on Tanasuh TV, the Mufti said: "It is incumbent upon the people to take to the streets in their tens of thousands to call for elections and an end to the transitional phases.”

"The priority now is to demand the fall of the transitional bodies, not just the fall of the Dbeibah government because one is from Souq Al-Jumua, or Al-Zawiya, or Misrata, or elsewhere. People must demand what is closer to justice and truth as well as the removal of bodies that won't lead them to either.” He said.

Regarding the outcomes of the Advisory Committee, the Mufti said, “What the Advisory Committee has produced these days will lead to crimes like those we witnessed in Abu Salim,” describing it as “nonsense handed down by the United Nations and behind it, the House of Representatives.”

"We’ve previously said that the selection of the twenty committee members has no legal or religious basis. Who authorized them to represent the Libyan people? They are simply overstepping, and their outputs align with what the House of Representatives and its Speaker, Aqila Saleh, are calling for in terms of extending the transitional phases.”

The Mufti said the Libyan people are tired of transitional stages, and those in power, as well as every free Libyan, must work to end these political bodies. However, "for some to seek the fall of the Government of National Unity only to replace it with another transitional one—this is unacceptable.” He remarked.
