The Libyan coastguards said they had seized a fuel-smuggling vessel by the name Lamar and carrying the flag of Togo with 8 Greek crewmembers aboard.

The spokesman of the Libyan Navy, Ayoub Qassim, told reporters Thursday that the vessel was intercepted inside Libyan waters – 8 miles off northern Farwa island.
“The ship has no authority to sail in the Libyan waters.” Qassim explained.

He added that the vessel was taken to the Tripoli Naval Base and its case will be lodged at the Attorney General’s Office.

The Head of the Investigations Bureau of the Attorney General’s Office Al-Siddiq Al-Sour disclosed Wednesday that Libyan authorities are cooperating with countries in southern Europe in order to report on foreigners involved in fuel smuggling from Libya.
