Senior Libyan officials met in Tripoli on Wednesday to discuss the formation of a joint military force, part of ongoing efforts to unify the country’s fragmented military structure.
The meeting was attended by Abdullah Al-Lafi, Deputy Head of the Presidential Council and Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, Chief of Staff Mohammed Al-Haddad, and Deputy Defence Minister Abdulsalam Zubi.
According to the Presidential Council’s media office, the talks focused on recent military developments, operational progress, and the organisational and administrative structures within Libya’s regular military units.
The officials stressed the importance of a balanced geographical distribution of forces to ensure nationwide security coverage.
Discussions also addressed the status of retired military personnel, with an emphasis on safeguarding their administrative and financial rights.
