Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah said that the Medical Supply Apparatus had been a place that was exploited for years for corruption and monopoly. He added in a speech on the occasion of the launching of the first international forum and exhibition of the Medical Supply Apparatus on Saturday evening that there was a need to take strict measures to combat these phenomena.
Dbeibah stressed the importance of strengthening the principle of disclosure and transparency, which allows for effective monitoring of the supply chain and achieves the required transparency in the health sector.
Dbeibah said that activating the public tender system is an essential step to eliminate manifestations of corruption in the health sector, and it enhances the integrity of procedures and oversight. He stressed that the government continues to work to provide medicines and medical supplies as well as to reduce waste of resources, and explained that work is underway to develop strategies and a comprehensive database for the health sector to improve management processes.
Dbeibah inaugurated the exhibition that witnessed wide participation from Libyan companies specialized in medicines and medical supplies, and the attendance of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Hospital Affairs, Saadeddin Abdul Wakil, and a number of directors of departments of the Ministry of Health and the Medical Supply Apparatus.
