The Presidential Council (PC) has issued an order dismissing the Defense Minister Mahdi Al-Barghathi after his suspension was scrapped.

No reasons were given by the Presidential Council for sacking Al-Barghathi.

Al-Barghathi and the commander of Third Force were suspended by the Head of the PC Fayez Al-Sirraj over their forces' attack on Break Al-Shaati military base last year.

Even before the military base incident, Al-Sirraj and Al-Barghathi were not any closer as the latter supported military actions by Ibrahim Jodran and others, while the former used to condemn them.

Al-Sirraj also suspended Al-Barghathi from the task of coordinating with the UN sanctions committee and appointed Foreign Minister Mohammed Sayala in his place.

On the contrary, last January, Al-Barghathi accused Al-Sirraj for being responsible for Brak Al-Shaati incident, demanding the investigations' results be revealed as well as accusing Al-Sirraj and the Justice Minister of hiding the outcome of the probe.

Days ago, Al-Barghathi was allowed by the Administrative Control Authority to resume work as the legal term for his suspension had ended.

No names were revealed by the PC to substitute Al-Barghathi at the Defense Ministry, which is run by deputy minister Ewhid Najim since the suspension of the latter.
