Al-Bidja

‎The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, has instructed the Ministry of Interior and the relevant agencies to open an urgent investigation into the killing of Major Abdul Rahman Milad, nicknamed "Al-Bija".

"I followed with great sorrow the details of the sinful operation that targeted Major Abdul Rahman Salem Milad, on Sunday in Janzour. The deceased and his colleagues had commendable efforts to rehabilitate the Naval Academy and graduate new batches from it after a hiatus that lasted more than a decade, in addition to his constant efforts to achieve reconciliation in his city of Al-Zawiya," Dbeibah said on his official Facebook page on Monday.

On Sunday, Al-Bija was targeted in the Sayyad area west of Janzour, Tripoli, and activists on social media published pictures of a car, said to belong to the deceased, after he was shot in front of the Naval Academy.

Anadolu Agency cited an unnamed source as saying that gunmen intercepted Al-Bija's car in the city of Janzour on Sunday evening, and opened fire with their automatic rifles on him. The source explained that the security services have begun their investigations into the incident, while the source did not clarify the identity of the assassins or the suspects, but indicated that "his enemies are many."

The source told Anadolu, "We expect security tension to occur in the capital against the backdrop of mobilizations carried out by armed groups affiliated with Al-Bija in Al-Zawiya (50 km west of Tripoli), his hometown."
