The Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs in the Government of National Unity, Adel Jumua, survived an assassination attempt on Wednesday after his car came under a hail of bullets on the Second Ring Road in Tripoli.
A government source reported that the Minister's vehicle was hit by 14 bullets, two of which struck his legs. He was transported to Abu Salim Hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit for treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
The Government of National Unity condemned the assassination attempt, reaffirming that Jumua's health is stable. The government also confirmed that security agencies had launched intensive investigations to uncover the circumstances of the attack and track down the perpetrators to bring them to justice.
The Government of National Unity stressed that it would not tolerate any attempts to threaten the state’s security and stability, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening security and upholding the rule of law.
