The Head of the delegation of the explosives detection team sent by the Interior Ministry of Al-Thanni government, Abdel Atti Al-Masellati, confirmed that the team arrived in the UAE to do a course in the advanced mine detectors, however, it turned out that the course was in the basics of the detectors used in the airports, explosives and tracking dogs. Al-Masellati added in a statement Saturday that the UAE.

Interior officials told the team that the schedule of the course was made according to the requests of the Libyan Interior Ministry and thus cannot be altered without checking with the relevant authorities, pointing out that the Interior Minister in Al-Thanni government, Mohammed Al-Fakhiri, is the one who bears the responsibility for this course.

A leader in Khalifa Haftar’s militias and one of the course trainees, Tariq Al-Saiti, said they were fooled by being sent on this course and they were convinced that they would be trained to use advanced devices when they found that the course was in basic devices they use frequently in the current conflict in Benghazi.

In a video posted on social media, Al-Saiti indicated that they were treated badly in the UAE, saying two of the team returned to Libya on the spot because they received the treatment of illegal immigrants. He added that the rest of the team were prevented from travelling over visa issues, saying that they are still in the UAE against their will and threatening that he would dot the i’s and cross the t’s when he returns to Benghazi to find out who fooled them as such.
