The Acting Foreign Minister Taher Al-Baour reaffirmed Libya's support for all international efforts to achieve security and stability and to combat terrorism and extremism in Africa.
This came during Al-Baour's speech at the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, which was held in the city of Sochi in Russia, where Al-Baour headed the Libyan delegation participating in the activities of the international conference.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the activities of the first ministerial conference discussed a wide range of vital issues of interest to the African continent and Russia, including enhancing cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, science and technology.
Al-Baour reaffirmed the State of Libya's support for all international efforts made in this regard. The Ministry noted that one of the most prominent outcomes of the conference was the adoption of a joint "African-Russian" statement on enhancing cooperation in combating terrorism, which included an emphasis on the importance of coordination between African countries and Russia to confront this common threat.
On Saturday, Al-Baour met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Sochi, where they discussed bilateral relations and regional developments. A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that they stressed the importance of enhancing political consultations between the two countries, especially with regard to issues on the agenda of the UN Security Council.
