The Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, was sworn in on Monday at a House of Representatives session in Tobruk.

GNU ministers were also sworn in at the HoR in Tobruk in a session that was attended by the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, and the two members Abdullah Al-Lafi and Mossa Al-Koni, in addition to the Head of High Council of State, Khalid Al-Mishri, and a number of ambassadors to Libya.

Earlier, the spokesman for the Libyan HoR, Abdullah Bliheq, said the United Nations and European Union’s envoys would be present at the session as well as the ambassadors of the US, UK, France, Turkey, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco in Libya, while others would be attending via Zoom.

After swearing in the ministers of the GNU, the Speaker of the HoR, Aqila Saleh, said the GNU should work also on the departure of all foreign elements and mercenaries from the country.

Saleh said in his speech after the swearing in of the GNU ministers that the time of division and fragmentation ended and now is the time of reconciliation and forgiveness among all Libyans, hailing the role of the ex-acting envoy of the UN Stephanie Williams in this political process.

Saleh added that the GNU should be responsible for improving the living conditions across Libya and paving the way for general elections so that Libyans can decide who their leaders are in a democratic and transparent way.

Earlier on Monday, the Presidential Council members were sworn in at the Tripoli Supreme Court before they headed to Tobruk to attend GNU's swearing in session.

The GNU was given confidence by the HoR in a majority vote of 132 members, to end years of division in governments across Libya.
