Libya’s High Council of State (HCS) has decried HoR Speaker’s blessing to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi’s threats against Libya’s security and sovereignty, saying Sisi's call for recruiting and arming Libyan tribesmen is an additional attempt of fueling division among Libyans to urge them to kill one another.

In a statement on Monday, the HCS denounced Tobruk-based HoR Speaker Aqila Saleh's blessing of Sisi's threats, reminding him of Article No.30 of Skhirat agreement, which is approved by the Security Council, that says GNA should seize control of the entire country.

The statement said the pretext of Egypt’s national security requires the solution of closing borders with Libya, saying the Egyptian Army shouldn’t follow this adventure that will end up like the previous ones in Yemen.

The High Council of State reaffirmed that the forces which uprooted terrorists from Sirte and defeated the aggression on Tripoli are ready to defend their land and borders.

Meanwhile, HoR Speaker Aqila Saleh issued Sunday a statement hailing Sisi's statements in which he threatened to intervene in Libya with military force, saying the statements were in line with his previous call on Egypt to intervene and "save Libya from terrorism".
