The Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh said the Head of the Presidential Council (PC) Fayez Al-Sirraj was imposed on Libyans by the international community.

Saleh added in a TV interview that he and many other politicians did not know Al-Sirraj before the signing of the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA) in Skhirat Morocco in December 2015, adding that his name was not event proposed by the HoR or the General National Congress.

The HoR Speaker also indicated that Al-Sirraj is not legitimate as the HoR did not endorse the LPA after it had been signed.

Tobruk-based HoR has not until today approved the LPA.

"That is why I would never sit with Al-Sirraj with his current title and that is why I did not attend the meeting he attended in Palermo a week ago." Saleh added.

He also said that after backing up the PC's government, 80 HoR members backed down due to its failure in resolving crises in Libya.

"It is a non-constitutional government and is rejected by the HoR." Saleh remarked, saying that part of the figures of the government is that it takes its decisions without restoring to the majority approval of its members as per the Skhirat agreement.

"The international community can dismiss Al-Sirraj any moment." He added.

The PC, Saleh added, has used armed groups in Tripoli for security reasons and has not done the agreed on security arrangements, which is a violation of the LPA.

Saleh said all security violations are taking place in areas under PC's control, adding that many HoR members are disapproving the PC as an unqualified governing entity.
