Libya's Human Rights Solidarity (HRS) has called on Saudi Arabia to put an end to the human rights violations it is doing in and out the country, urging it to end hate speech, violence and killing incitement that is being directed by Saudi citizen Rabee Al-Madkhali.
In a statement on Thursday, HRS said that despite the shake-up inside Saudi Arabia, it has not yet ventured to end the overseas negative influences that are caused by Sheikh Rabee Al-Madkhali.
"Al-Madkhali's fatwas are used by armed militias in Libya as a pretext to abuse human rights using a self-deduced understanding of Islam." The HRS's statement reads.
"A speech for Al-Madkhali on July 03 last year showed him calling for fighting and using weapons in Libya, thus tens were killed in extrajudical executions by gunmen from the Salafist-Mdkhalist groups." Adds the statement.
It added that there are over 2000 prisoners in a detention run by Salafists who are loyal to Al-Madkhali in Tripoli's Mitiga airport, pointing out that the detainees are being tortured as per the UN reports.
"The fate of the member of Sharia Research and Studies at the Libyan Fatwa House, Nadir Al-Omrani, is still unknown since he was kidnapped in October 2016 after the hate speech toward him by Madkhalists." The statement explains.
HRS further added that three Libyans were also detained in Saudi Arabia in July 2017 while on their way back home from Umrah, saying that their fate is also still unknown, though Saudi Arabia justified the arrest as the request of the Libyan authorities, which later denied such a request through Tripoli's Foreign Ministry.
