The Libyan Interior Minister, Khalid Mazen, discussed Sunday with the Coordinator of the European Union’s Delegation in Libya, elections, ending conflicts and helping the High National Elections Commission secure elections through the security plan of the Ministry.

Mazen said elections are important because they are what the people demand and the only way out of division, adding that the Interior Ministry is one of the first ministries to start unification as per the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum's outcomes.

He also discussed with the European Union’s Delegation Coordinator the opening of the coastal road and the role of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission in executing this landmark achievement, in addition to the visit of the Government of National Unity to the south and tackling its needs of security and services, as well as supporting anti-illegal immigration apparatus to carry out its tasks.

The EU Coordinator, according to the Interior Ministry's statement, hailed the efforts of the Ministry in opening the coastal road in cooperation with the 5+5 Joint Military Commission as well as in supporting development work.
