The head the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Masoud Suleiman, has held separate talks with British Ambassador to Libya Martin Longden and UN Envoy Hanna Tetteh to discuss the development of Libya’s oil sector and efforts to ensure the corporation’s independence.

During his meeting with the British ambassador, Suleiman outlined opportunities for energy cooperation between Libya and the UK, highlighting the NOC’s recently launched bidding round for oil and gas exploration. Ambassador Longden reaffirmed Britain’s support for the corporation’s efforts to develop the sector and strengthen Libya’s economy.

In a separate meeting, UN Envoy Tetteh was briefed on the NOC’s plans to boost production and expand sustainable development projects in communities near oil facilities across the country.

Discussions also focused on safeguarding the corporation’s independence and shielding it from political or territorial disputes that could hinder its operations.

Key priorities include increasing crude oil and gas production, as well as ensuring the stability of the sector amid Libya’s broader economic and political challenges.
