The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, discussed with the Head of the UNSMIL, Jan Kubis, the latest developments in Libya and the steps of withdrawing foreign forces and mercenaries from the country.

The meeting on Wednesday saw the two sides review the preparations for the Paris Conference on Libya in November, according to a statement by the Presidential Council.

The two sides also talked about the work achieved by the 5+5 Joint Military Commission and its action plan that was approved in Geneva lately to withdraw foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya as per a timeline.

Menfi said international support is needed for Libya to end the current phase by holding general elections to achieve stability, while Kubis reiterated the support of the UN for peace and stability in Libya.
