The Minister of Local Governing in the Government of National Unity, Badr Al-Deen Al-Toumi, presented to Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah the ministry's plan to transfer the competencies of three sectors to municipal councils.
In the meeting that took place on Monday, Al-Dabaiba followed up on the executive procedures for transferring competencies to municipalities, as part of efforts to activate local administration and implement Law No. (59) of 2012.
Dbeibah stressed the importance of supporting national efforts to enhance the role of municipalities in providing services to citizens, by transferring sectoral competencies to them, while Al-Toumi reviewed the plan to transfer the competencies of primary healthcare programs, and the agriculture and social affairs sectors, in addition to the administrative and technical procedures completed by the ministry.
In late September, Al-Toumi reviewed with the Minister of State at the German Foreign Ministry, Katja Kuhl, the procedures for activating local administration and transferring competencies to municipalities, activating local revenues, allocating local development budgets, in addition to activating the community participation program.
