Six people were killed and 12 others wounded in a tribal fighting in western Libyan on Monday.

Mashashia and Qintrar tribes exchanged heavy fire in Mizda town in Nafousa Mountain when a tribesman from Mashashia killed another from Qintrar.

Several families have fled to nearby towns to escape the heavy fire.

Reports said there are still intermittent clashes in the town while elders of the nearby towns are exerting efforts to reconcile between both tribes.

Relations between Mashashia and Qintrar tribes are tense and both have a legacy of historical conflicts. In 2012, clashes between both tribes left three dead and three others wounded. The tribal clashes renewed in 2013 leaving several people killed while efforts to calm down tension had failed.
