Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela will arrive in Tripoli on Tuesday to participate in the Trans-Mediterranean Migration Forum (TMMF), which is organized by the Government of National Unity in Tripoli and is going to be held on Wednesday.
In a statement to The Libya Observer, the Maltese ambassador to Libya, Charles Saliba, said Maltese Prime Minister would not only attend the TMMF but would also come one day earlier with the largest delegation from Malta to ever visit Libya, consisting of 29 officials, including two ministers and high-ranking officials from the armed forces and security services.
The Libyan capital, Tripoli, hosts the TMMF on July 17, with the participation of a number of heads of states and ministers of interior.
The Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, Walid Al-Lafi, said during a press conference with the Minister of Interior, Emad Al-Trabelsi, that the TMMF would take place for one day to come up with practical solutions to the immigration file. He considered the TMMF a strategic vision on the immigration issue in cooperation with European and African countries.
Italy, Malta, Niger, Chad, Spain, Greece, the Czech Republic, Sudan, Algeria, Tunisia, and the Netherlands will participate in the forum, in addition to the League of Arab States, the African Union, and the European Union.
