The Man-made River Water system has extended its services to the mountain cities of Kikla, Al-Qawalish, and Zintan.

A statement by the Hakomitna platform said, "this achievement comes within the framework of the Abuziyan-Al-Rahibat pipeline project to deliver the water of the Man-made River to the cities of Jabal Nafusa."

Successive governments have been making promises to the mountain populations to resolve the water issue but to no avail.

A concrete water tower is the only water source for the residents in Zintan city, southwest of the country.

Truck drivers approach the tens of meters-high reservoir to fill up their tanks and distribute water to the residents, which only covers the need of 50% of the population.

Many mountaineers pay individual truck drivers to deliver water to their families at a high price.
