The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, offered condolences to King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco, the government and the Moroccan people on Sunday for the victims of the deadly earthquake, which so far has killed over 1000 people, stressing his confidence that Morocco will overcome the effects of this disaster.
Menfi expressed in a statement the solidarity with Moroccans in this ordeal, wishing the wounded speedy recovery and the families of the victims patience.
Menfi's Deputy, Abdullah Al-Lafi, also expressed his solidarity with the families of the victims and those whose homes and properties were damaged, reiterating the Council's full support for the government of Morocco and its people in facing this ordeal and in their efforts to recover from it.
The National Institute of Geophysics, in Morocco, announced that a 7 magnitude earthquake - the most destructive in Morocco in a century: according to the Institute's Head - had been recorded in Al Haouz Province, in the center of the country, at 11:00 pm on Friday: local time.
