The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, said Libya "wants to increase cooperation and trade exchanges with Tunisia".

These remarks came in a phone call between Menfi and the Tunisian Prime Minister, Hichem Mechichi, according to a statement by the Tunisian Presidency.

The statement added that Menfi had hailed the stance of Tunisian government and people, saying Tunisians have a special relationship with their Libyan neighbors.

Mechichi hoped that more cooperation will be the norm of Libya-Tunisia relations in the future, saying it would be significant if the two countries had a strategic partnership for the greater good of the two peoples.

The Tunisian Prime Minister renewed his congratulations to the Head of the Libyan Presidential Council on the approval of the Government of National Unity by the House of Representatives.
