The Interior Minister, Khaled Mazen, stressed that illegal immigration is an enormous file, adding that the burdens which come with it must be shared, as the matter of immigration is not confined to Libya alone.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the Minister’s statements came during his meeting on Tuesday, June 8, with the Maltese Minister of Home Affairs, Byron Camilleri, who stressed the need to activate previous agreements in the field of combating the issues of drugs, money laundering, illegal immigration, smuggling and organized crime.

Also, during the meeting, he mentioned supporting and training the Libyan Coastal Security and Coast Guards, to assist in improving its efficiency in their specialized field.

Camilleri took the opportunity to offer his condolences for the innocent victims of the recent bombing, which targeted the Criminal Investigation Agency in Sabha, leaving two dead and wounding five others.
