The Minister of Transportation in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, confirmed that the results of the inspection and visit conducted by the inspection committee assigned by the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to the airports of Mitiga and Misurata were at a positive level.
Al-Shahoubi said in a statement to the Libyan News Agency after his meeting on Thursday in Tripoli with the Vice President of the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority, Mohammed Al-Fawzan and the delegation of the inspection committee; that the meeting comes within the framework of the review and inspection of all Libyan airports to ensure their commitment to the compliance standards and decisions issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization.
He explained that the inspection committee will visit the airports of Sabha and Benina in the next stage, indicating that this came based on a very great effort adopted by the Government of National Unity to develop the civil aviation sector and implement the agreements signed with the Arab Civil Aviation Organization to raise the level of work in Libyan airports.
The minister said that in the past few days, a number of agreements were signed with Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, and on Thursday a meeting was held with the Saudi embassy and the Saudi Civil Aviation Organization in order to resume Saudi Airlines and Nas Air flights to Libyan airports, which will contribute to the stability of Libya and help in the management of air traffic.
Al-Shahoubi added that Libya has now become a transit country for aviation and the number of flights exceeds 1.500 each month, saying this will be a good factor for our people and our people in Libya as a whole.
