Misrata councils condemn airstrike on Al-Jufra, mobilize troops to fight Haftar’s forces
The Misrata Municipality, Misrata Notables Council, Central Military Zone Operations Chamber and Air Force Emergency Operation Room all condemned the dangerous military escalation in the Libyan southern region that included airstrikes on Al-Jufra airbase on Tuesday morning.
In a joint statement by the councils and military rooms in Misrata, they all said that the Dignity Operation airstrikes led to the killing and wounding of people and a huge damage at the airplane and the airbase.
“The Dignity Operation air attacks aim at destabilizing the country and spreading fear and chaos all over it.” The statement reads.
“We hereby urge all of the forces and fighters to be on high alert and we call for mobilization of all forces to fight the renegade General Khalifa Haftar and his Dignity Operation forces.” The statement stresses.
The statement added that the Military Council of Misrata welcomes the efforts of the notables and elders of the city that were manifested in their visit to the eastern region out of love for reconciliation and Libya’s interests not out of fear or weakness.
“Such a military escalation is the stumbling stone in the way of reconciliation efforts in Libya as it steps up tension among parties and obliges some factions to respond conclusively to the other parties.” The statement indicates.
