The members of Misrata municipality met with the deputy head of the UNSMIL for political affairs Stephanie Williams on Tuesday in the presence of the High Council of State member for Misrata Omar Abulifa.

The municipality said on Facebook that Williams had reaffirmed during the meeting that the UNSMIL is continuing to work inside Libya and that the Head of UNSMIL Ghassan Salame is preparing to find new international understanding of Libya taking into account the failure of military solutions.

Williams also said that the only way out of Libya's crisis is political dialogue and that was the aim of her visit to Misrata.

According to the municipality, the attendees reiterated the importance of what Williams said provided that the military solution is taken off the table of any upcoming dialogue, in addition to ending foreign intervention.

They also stressed the importance of pursuing security and economic reforms in order to pave the way for the building of civilian state and later elections.
Williams hailed Misrata's role in fighting terrorism and said there will be more discussions away from the military solution to stabilize Libya.
