Pro-Haftar fighters were videotaped burning a dead body while uttering lots of swear words along the way.

The National Commission for Human Rights in Libyan (NCHRL) has strongly condemned the burning of a corpse in Benghazi.

It called, in a statement on Thursday, for the handing over of the perpetrators to Libyan justice.

A video showing pro-Dignity Operation fighters setting ablaze a dead body of one of the fighters of Benghazi Shura Council, whom they forcefully pulled out of Benghazi hospital, went viral on social media early this week.

“That video is atrocious and is at odds with the humanitarian values, the teachings of Islam, and the human nature at large.” The NCHRL added.

“It does not even pertain to the Libyan society’s values and conduct.” It continued.

The NCHRL explained that it had urged the criminal investigation and judicial departments in Benghazi to take the necessary measures and break down the video into useful information as to who the criminals and the victim were.

“The motive behind the crime must also be brought to light before the criminals are brought to justice.” The NCHRL’s statement concludes.
