The Former Ghanaian Foreign Minister Hanna Serwaa Tetteh expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her by the UN Secretary General in appointing her as the head of the UN mission to Libya. She pledged to work with all stakeholders and key partners in Libya, as well as with her colleagues in the mission and various UN departments and agencies.
This came in a post she shared on her official Facebook account, where she reaffirmed that she would do her utmost to fulfill this challenging responsibility. She also expressed her eagerness to collaborate with everyone to achieve stability in Libya. She emphasized the importance of joint efforts with all Libyan parties to “achieve the desired goals.”
Last Friday, UN Secretary-General António Guterres announced Tetteh’s appointment as the head of the UN mission to Libya. The announcement was welcomed by the international community and Libyans who hope for lasting peace. Analysts highlighted Tetteh's ability to navigate the complex political landscape and build consensus, considering these as key assets in her new role, according to News Ghana.
Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said "Hanna Tetteh’s track record speaks for itself. Her appointment is a testament to the UN’s confidence in her ability to drive real progress in Libya. However, the road ahead is filled with challenges, and her success will depend on the cooperation of Libyan stakeholders and the international community,” News Ghana reported.
