Nine people were killed and 16 others injured, including a civilian, in armed clashes in Tajoura at noon on Friday, as reported by Libya’s Ambulance and Emergency Service.
Hostilities broke out between the Rahbat Al-Duroo Battalion and the Martyr Sabriya Battalion following an alleged assassination attempt on Rahbat Al-Duroo’s commander, Bashir Khalaf Allah.
The battalion has since claimed control of the Martyr Sabriya Battalion’s headquarters, along with its weapons and military vehicles.
A tense calm prevailed in the area after Friday prayers, with authorities urging residents to avoid the coastal road in Tajoura unless necessary and to use the Wadi Al-Rabee road instead.
