Security adviser to the UN-installed Presidency Council, Hashim Bisher, said on Saturday the military rule is totally rejected, sending a strong message to Khalifa Haftar that Tripoli is a “red line.”

Bisher was responding to critics accusing his armed groups of paving the way for Khalifa Haftar to control Tripoli after the latter’s meeting with Fayaz Sirraj in the UAE.

“We have said several times, no to the military rule, the capital is a red line for Khalifa Haftar and the military settlement is a dream for people  with ill wishes,” Bisher posted on his Facebook timeline.

Hashim Bisher, former head of the Supreme Security Committee, is now one of top commanders in the capital. His brigades are protecting locations of the Presidency Council and escorting Fayaz Sirraj in his movements around Tripoli.

Retired General Khalifa Haftar is a controversial figure in Libya. He is widely rejected in the western and southern regions, while his forces control most of the eastern region.

On Thursday, a celebration held in Tripoli to mark the 1st anniversary of Derna's liberation from the grip of SIS. The celebration went fine until a speech by the House of Representatives MP Siham Sirgawah mentioned Khalifa Haftar and praised his alleged war on terror. A woman interrupted her angrily, forcing her to end her speech and leave the hall.
